Title: Family Engagement Specialist
Reports To: READ Director/President
Status: Part-Time, 32 hours per week
Compensation: Starting at $20/hour, commensurate with experience

The Family Engagement Specialist will provide programming and outreach to families throughout Saginaw County, such as Raising Readers Academy, parent workshops, and special events. The individual in this role should feel comfortable interacting with both children and parents, together and independently, and should be skilled in leading group discussions, lesson delivery, and developing program materials.

In addition to planning, coordinating, and leading sessions of the family program, Raising Readers Academy, the Family Engagement Specialist will work with the Family Literacy Center Coordinator to develop additional parent programs. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required, and this individual should have the ability to travel to outreach locations.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
· Reviewing and updating curriculum for the multi-week Raising Readers Academy
· Planning/Leading multiple sessions of Raising Readers Academy each year
· Presenting in front of groups of children and adults
· Building relationships with community partners, including school staff
· Attending community events
· Tracking program budgets
· Collecting and reporting program data
· Monitoring program supply inventory
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
· Degree in education or a related field OR experience working in a classroom setting
· Knowledge of childhood development and elementary curriculum
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Comfortability with public speaking
· Strong organizational skills
· Valid driver’s license
· Ability to navigate diverse settings
